How would you describe your style?

I consider myself a “lifestyle” photographer. This means I want my images, and the people in them, to look relaxed and in their element — like they’re just living their lives! Candid images are my favorite, but in order to make clients feel more comfortable, I do provide some direction and styling. In other words, I look for natural moments to capture, but set the scene when necessary. The result is unique and artistic photos that are not replicated across Pinterest — they’re 100% you! This is what makes my work so meaningful.

My signature photos are light and bright, but if the sun is not cooperating on your wedding day, no worries! We have captured consistently gorgeous images on rainy days, cloudy days, and even in the snow. From early morning to golden hour and late into the evening, you will have a wide variety of striking images from which to choose. I encourage you to look through my gallery to get a better feel for my overall style.

Do you have suggestions on locations for photo shoots?

Absolutely! I have searched high and low across Central Virginia for the most beautiful and unique spots. If your event or photoshoot will be held in a different area, I will do extensive research beforehand to ensure we find a location that fits your style and personality. That said, I am always open to hearing your ideas, too! If you have a dream location, tell me the time and place, and I’ll meet you there. (Assuming it is open to the public, or we receive special permission to shoot there beforehand.)

What do you recommend wearing to the photo shoot?

I love working with my clients to figure out what to wear. This is always dependent on the location and time of year, but I have built an archive of information on this subject. Along with photo examples, I can show you what colors and styles I think would work best for your shoot. I am happy to provide this consulting and advice after you book! At that point, feel free email me your outfit options.

What are your travel fees?

Since we love to travel, I aim to keep my fees as reasonable as possible. We simply ask that you compensate us for mileage at a rate of $0.85 per mile if your photo shoot or event will be outside a 30 mile radius of our studio.

How long have you been in business?

Gaudium Photography officially launched in 2012.

Do you shoot digital or film?

All digital! We shoot with both Canon and Fujifilm.

How will I receive my images?

Your gorgeous images will be delivered right to your inbox! We use an online gallery service called Pixieset which allows you to easily view and share your images, select favorites, download digital copies, and send your favorites to print. Pixieset is free for you to use, and the best part — you never have to worry about lost USB drives, damaged discs, or single prints.

How can I print my images?

I recommend printing directly through the online gallery service mentioned above. This will ensure you receive incredible high-quality images delivered directly to your home. While Pixieset is my top recommendation, I like to give my clients the freedom and flexibility to print images from their vendors of choice! I will never dictate where you can or cannot print your photos; however, I will share my personal experience (both positive and negative) with vendors. Feel free to ask for more information if you are wondering about a certain vendor.

How long will it take to receive the images?

I pride myself on quick turnarounds but think it’s important to give clients a realistic timeframe of what to expect. For weddings, we guarantee you will have your images within four weeks! For portrait sessions, two weeks is our guarantee. These time frames reflect the maximum wait time during the peak of our busy wedding season. Most of the time, we are able to provide you with your images much sooner, often as quick as one week!

Do you have a second shooter for weddings?

Always! The second shooter is included in your package price.

Do you edit the images?

Yes! Every image you receive will be edited to perfection.

Can I get all the raw images?

We do not provide clients with raw images under any circumstance. Post processing is an important component of the art of photography. Before booking a photographer, it is wise to look at a wide variety of their edited images to ensure you love their editing style.

Are you available to stay longer for my wedding on a short notice?

Absolutely! We are very flexible. Keep in mind, if you decide you need more coverage than originally planned, additional fees will apply and arrangements will be made on a case-by-case basis.

Can I give you a shot list or pinterest ideas?

Sure! But remember, this not at all required to receive an amazing mix of unique and creative images. I am happy to recreate some of the photos that have inspired you online; however, I think you’ll be more than happy with our creative design process and the memories that we capture for you.

How does the album design process work?

I create a custom album design for each of my wedding clients. Various material choices are available, including unique covers, page style, and paper types. When I complete the initial design, I send each client a digital proof for review. From there, the client can send any feedback and suggested edits. Two rounds of edits are included to ensure the project is completed in a timely manner. When edits are complete, the album is printed and shipped directly to the client!

How early should I book you for our wedding?

After you set a date, a photographer should be one of the first (in my opinion, the first) thing you book. Your big day will come and go in a flash, but images will help it live on forever. Additionally, there are only 52 weekends in a year, and most weddings occur within a brief window of the calendar. This means popular dates book FAST.
